Watch history in the making as experts from the Plant Based Treaty movement take center stage at COP28, the December 2023 UN Climate Conference in Dubai. Watch as these experts offer a comprehensive and achievable solution to the escalating climate crisis. The Safe and Just Report provides a roadmap to reversing climate change by addressing the big elephant in the room: food, specifically animal agriculture and it's massive role in greenhouse gas emissions, especially methane. Pointing out that methane is many times stronger than CO2 and has a relatively short lifespan of about a dozen years, this report explains that cutting methane emissions, by phasing out animal agriculture, would "quickly slow down global warming." From a meat/methane tax to empowering cities to take the lead, the Plant Based Treaty offers a concrete, step-by-step instruction manual for reversing greenhouse gas emissions.
This news conference marks a huge step forward as animal agriculture's role in the climate crisis has been systematically repressed by powerful forces.
As Quartz magazine reported in March of 2023, "The meat industry blocked the IPCC’s attempt to recommend a plant-based diet. A leaked draft revealed how the meat industry is obstructing efforts to curb climate change." You can read the entire article here:
