Mourn. Celebrate. Rise Up! shines a light on National Animal Rights Day (NARD), an inspiring global event observed in over 170 cities around the world. “These events bring the animal rights community together, and allow people to mourn, and celebrate, together, thus empowering them to keep fighting for animals,” says founder Aylam Orian. Among those offering tributes: New York Times bestselling author Kathy Freston, actress Nina Bergman and poet Sean Hill.
What You’ll Discover
Every first Sunday in June, NARD ceremonies honor the billions of animals unnecessarily and cruelly killed each year at human hands for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation and hunting, all of it normalized violence that also hurts humans and the planet. Witness powerful memorials, the reading of the Declaration of Animal Rights, and vibrant celebrations with vegan food, music, and speakers. “Our vision is to establish a National Animal Rights Day in every country on Earth,” says the founder.
