Georja Umano, an award-winning author and elephant advocate has recently co-founded Elephant Matriarch Project. It is a transformative initiative designed to empower young mothers with limited education, along with their children and the broader community, through education and vocational training. Conservation and wildlife education is an essential part of the program; as human/elephant conflict is one of the pressing concerns that this initiative addresses.
