Why Elephants Deserve Sanctuary!

On World Elephant Day, animal advocates gather outside the Los Angeles Zoo demanding freedom for elephant sanctuary-worthy captives Billy and Tina. Held in confinement for decades, these Asian elephants became the focus of a fierce campaign led by activists like Cory Mac of Los Angeles For Animals.
Despite growing pressure—including public protests, lawsuits, and national outcry—the zoo transferred Billy, 40, and Tina, 59, to another zoo in Tulsa instead of honoring demands for a sanctuary placement. In this on-site report, Action Hour’s Tony Shale speaks live from the LA protest scene while studio host Lindsey Baker interviews renowned elephant advocates Barbara Lovett and Mary Ann Holm.
They share inspiring stories, including how Nosey the elephant was recently freed to sanctuary and why Lucy, still held in a Canadian zoo, urgently needs help. The segment also provides concrete steps for viewers to support the global movement to retire captive elephants from all entertainment venues and relocate them to sanctuaries where they can live out their lives in peace.
