Welcome to UnchainedTV’s Global Emergency Town Hall for Turkey’s dogs. In 2024, Turkey (Türkiye) passed a now infamous stray slaughter law sometimes called “The Massacre Law.” Since then, millions of dogs and cats have been poisoned, burned, crushed, and buried alive. There is global outrage! Famed comedian/activist Ricky Gervais says, “Homeless dogs and cats don’t deserve to be treated with such violent contempt.”
Now, In Defense of Animals, SPCA International, Animal Save Movement, Animal Save Ankara-Turkey, Lady Freethinker, UnchainedTV and other organizations are urging Turkish President Erdoğan to halt the world's largest dog and cat slaughter and adopt humane solutions instead.

Because of this law, healthy, neutered, and non-aggressive animals are being killed without justification in Turkey. Shelters must either house or kill all 4 million cats and dogs. There's nowhere near enough room, plus the shelters have been repeatedly exposed by Turkish activists as hellholes where animals suffer unimaginable horrors.
Spay-neuter-vaccinate-return programs and adoption initiatives are proven to drastically reduce stray populations. The Netherlands has eradicated the problem of homeless animals. But, now, tragically, these mass dog killings appear to be spreading to other nations like Morocco. We will speak with an activist who just disrupted the FIFA Club World Cup soccer match in Philadelphia to say “Stop Shooting Dogs & Cats!”
Now, welcome IDA’s Fleur Dawes and Jane Elizabeth, SPCAI’s Lori Kalef, Animal Save Ankara-Turkey’s Nilgün Engin, Lady Freethinker's Nina Jackel, activist Johnny Mora, scholar-activist Melda Kelemcisoy and other brave activists on the front lines.
