PETA is calling on Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate alarming reports that the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) may deliver more than 1,200 endangered long-tailed macaques to a controversial animal testing company even though, they contend, these animals were allegedly imported illegally. These sensitive, intelligent primates were allegedly torn from their forest homes, trafficked across continents, and are now trapped in heartbreaking limbo.

In this powerful interview, Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel, Senior Science Advisor at PETA, explains why these monkeys deserve the chance to heal in reputable sanctuaries — not to be sent back to the same system that profits from the suffering of monkeys. She reveals how PETA believes these family-oriented animals were stolen from their natural habitats, funneled through a criminal wildlife trade, and left to languish in barren steel cages for years while federal agencies inexplicably stall.
PETA and Born Free USA have offered to help secure lifetime sanctuary placement for the macaques. More than 76,000 PETA supporters have already urged the government to release them and compel those responsible to pay for their care.
Dr. Jones-Engel calls for the immediate release of every one of these monkeys, emphasizing that they belong in the wild or in environments where their social bonds, natural behaviors, and well-being are finally respected.
Tune in to learn how you can help stop the cycle of exploitation and stand up for these monkeys who have already endured too much. The companies and the government agencies involved are invited on any time to respond.
