There's a growing, global movement to end humanity's horrific treatment of elephants for entertainment, tourism and religion. Don't ever ride an elephant.... not ever! They - and their families- have been tortured to get them to that tourist trap. But, there's more than you can do! Sign here to protect elephants: http://bit.ly/3DUovIs Elephants are highly intelligent, emotional beings who travel long distances in the wild. The evidence is now overwhelming that the (always) brutal training/breaking of these elephants causes severe behavioral disorders. Ongoing awareness is inspiring some temples to replace real elephants with robotic ones. Click here for more: https://www.vfaes.org/projects
This short film focuses on the prisoners in a notorious camp for elephants in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Madhavan, a bull elephant, is among the 44 prisoners who want to escape the jail cell. He desperately tries to get a trunk full of gutter water, so he can splash it on himself and cope with the sizzling heat. He’s clearly traumatized. He is unable to handle the constant stress. He lives in mortal fear of being poked with a bull hook and iron spears. Dr. Jessica Bell Rizzolo explains how brutal abuse can change the structure and functions of an elephant’s brain, eventually leading to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in elephants, just like people who have lived traumatic lives. If this outrages you, there's something you can do! Join the movement to free elephants from rides, religious ceremonies and, yes, zoos, which are elephant prisons.
