James Cromwell is known for playing characters with strong moral fiber, even when surrounded by the morally bankrupt. Apparently, it's also a case of good casting because Cromwell himself is a man who fights for voiceless animals, even if it means getting arrested. Cromwell's many years of working with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has gotten him arrested many times. He also glued his hand to a Starbucks counter to protest that company's pathetic policy of charging customers more for plant-based milks, even though the dairy milk they use is a huge contributor to climate change and even though most people suffer from lactose intolerance, especially people of color. For all these reasons, and more, PETA has honored the Babe actor (who readily admits he owes his career to a pig) by naming their new empathy center after Cromwell.
