Elephant advocate Courtney Fern brings us the very latest on UnchainedTV LIVE! A proposed law would ban elephant captivity in New York City. This would mark a major turning point for animal rights. The bill builds on NYC’s existing ban on elephants in circuses. If passed, it would be the first elephant captivity ban in the US passed in a City that currently has elephants in captivity. It is supported by the Nonhuman Rights Project (NhRP) and Voters For Animal Rights (VFAR). It would mean “Happy” the elephant, held alone in the Bronx Zoo, would be freed to a sanctuary.
