It was a mission to squeeze out some truth from politicians who seemed very reluctant to engage on the issue of government subsidies of animal agriculture. Armed with tough questions, animal rights activists with Free From Harm went to the 2026 American Farm Bureau Convention hosted by the American Farm Bureau Federation, America’s most powerful agriculture industry lobby group. Their annual event attracts thousands of industry representatives and Congressional leaders. This is where they shape food and agricultural policy. Free From Harm went all out, trying to talk to some of the most important figures making the big deals and decisions in our food system. The goal was to make the case about the benefits of plant-based food production and explain to them why animal agriculture is such a destructive force when it comes to human health, the climate and farmed animals. The activists decided to focus on the top four members of Congress shaping food policy. Watch and see how far they got in their attempts at a dialogue on how to fix America’s completely broken food system and turn it into something that benefits - not just corporations - but the people, the environment and animals.
