After years of fierce protests, tear gas, and daring rescues, Ridglan Farms—a controversial beagle breeding and research facility in Wisconsin—is permanently shutting down. All the cages will be emptied. No more testing. No more breeding. It’s over and it's a massive victory for the animal rights movement!
Right now, (June 15th, 2026) 325 dogs are being released! Watch the video of these liberated dogs enjoying their first taste of freedom and first time touching grass. The remaining 150 beagles will be released by August. These dogs, long exploited for their gentle temperaments, are taking their very first steps into the sunlight. From newborn puppies to adults, not one dog will be left behind. Now, the focus shifts to a march larger beagle breeding facility in Upstate New York, where reports suggest more than 16,000 beagles are being housed, destined for experimentation. Could liberation be in their future?
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. declared the announcement of the closing of Ridglan Farms as “a major win for animal welfare,” adding, “We are committed to humane animal care and to replacing animal testing with effective alternatives.” RFK, Jr. also touted ORIVA, a new NIH (National Institutes of Health) office that he said would “accelerate the development and use of humane-based research technologies and help reduce reliance on animal testing across all of NIH.”
This monumental victory comes as a turning tide sweeps across the nation—because a thousand miles away, the streets of New York City are facing their own historic reckoning.
Near Central Park’s famed Strawberry Fields, a 16-year-old carriage horse named Deniz collapsed and died after a decade of navigating gridlocked traffic and concrete. Caught on a heartbreaking viral video, his final moments have sparked nationwide outrage. From tennis legend Martina Navratilova to the prominent Central Park Conservancy itself, voices are rising to demand an end to the carriage trade once and for all. Philadelphia just voted to ban carriage horses and animal advocates are hoping New York City is next.
From the triumphant liberation of hundreds of laboratory hounds in the Midwest to the tragic loss of a gentle giant in Manhattan, the momentum is undeniable. The mood of the country has shifted. Animal rights is going mainstream and bipartisan!
