Hundreds gathered to meditate in silence, speak up in grief and bewilderment and cleanse the air of the stench of death as the infamous Farmer John pig slaughterhouse near downtown LA shut down for good. Filmmakers, animal activists... kind and creative people of all backgrounds converged to reflect on the decades of senseless cruelty to millions of baby pigs slaughtered here. It was part funeral, part protest, part vigil and part spiritual journey. The hope? Redemption for the human race and a collective journey to nonviolence.
