Will Supreme Court Pig Ruling Add to Humanewashing?

Animal rights advocates are celebrating the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to uphold Prop 12. Passed overwhelmingly by California voters, it says meat that comes from pigs confined in pig gestation crates, where the animals cannot move around or even scratch themselves, cannot be sold in California. Since this state is the world's 5th largest economy, it's predicted that pig producers will dismantle these horrifically cruel crates. But, what about enforcement? Will government agencies actually investigate to see if pig producers are complying or will it be left to undercover investigators who risk arrest and prison to do so? Meanwhile, the treatment of pigs, from birth to slaughter, will remain incredibly cruel. Now, Hope Bohanec, author of The Humane Hoax, discusses the dangers of the meat industry using this decision to declare that consumers can now eat pork products without worrying about animal welfare. How can we stop that from happening and remind consumers that the best solution is to go vegan? Let's find out.
