It’s a well-known fact that most serial killers start out by torturing animals. Take Israel Keyes. He’s believed to have murdered at least 11 and possibly as many as 20 people. He also committed dozens of other crimes including armed robbery, rape, arson and burglary in a wide-ranging spree of violence that lasted over a decade, Keyes committed suicide in 2012, at the age of 34, while awaiting trial. But, here’s the thing. He started by torturing animals. What does that tell you about the people who systematically abuse animals? They don’t all become serial killers, but there is something poisonous about them. And, then, there are those who allow others to torture and kill animals for them while they look the other way. Where do we draw the line? UnchainedTV’s Jane Velez-Mitchell interviews Andrew Iden, the co-host of the hot new “Deviant” podcast, about the nature of the criminal mind in general and Israel Keyes in particular.
