DAY 7 MARCH 2 END ANIMAL TESTS
1h 13m
Day Seven of the March to End Animal Testing takes this historic campaign beyond the 100-mile mark. Today, marchers travel 15.36 miles from Frankfort to Lock 20 near Marcy and Utica, bringing their total to 101.76 miles of the 207-mile journey from Albany to Marshall Bio Resources in North Rose, New York. Every mile draws attention to beagles and other animals bred and sold for laboratory experiments while demanding a transition to modern, human-relevant research. The destination is Marshall Bio Resources, where organizers are calling for an end to the breeding and sale of dogs for experimentation and a future of science without animal suffering.
March organizer Kai Simon will emcee tonight’s program and present a call to action on behalf of Britten Canida, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and research reform advocate. The immediate action is to submit a public comment to NIH by September 19 encouraging investment in replacing animal experiments with human-relevant research methods. Featured speaker Melissa Andrews, a march organizer and manager at Peace Ridge Sanctuary in Maine, will tell the story of Isaac—her first rescued laboratory dog, who was born at Marshall, sold into research, retired, and adopted in 2013. She is joined by march organizer Adam Durand, lead animal caregiver at Mockingbird Farm Sanctuary and a Save The Dogs organizer, and special guest Natalia DelMar, a march participant and philanthropist who independently aids human and nonhuman animals worldwide.
The primary on-air call to action is simple: join March for Animals as a marcher or supporter to receive updates and action alerts. You do not have to physically march to participate.
