The Ridglan Beagle Rescue Saga

When a special prosecutor cut a backroom deal allowing Ridglan to keep breeding beagles for internal experimentation, outraged activists took matters into their own hands. In the spring of 2026, a series of dramatic "open rescues" culminated in a massive, thousand-person rescue operation. The would-be rescuers were met with tear gas and rubber bullets by local police—sparking global outrage.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the Center for a Humane Economy was successfully negotiating a historic buyout of the beagles.
