The World's Largest Cube of Truth
Moments in Animal Rights History

In 2018, San Francisco became the epicenter of a historic moment in the global animal rights movement — the world’s largest Cube of Truth. UnchainedTV was there live, from the very first announcements to the final moments when the screens went dark and the masks came off. This was not just a protest. It was a living, breathing act of conscience, and UnchainedTV documented every second as history unfolded on the streets.
Organized by Anonymous for the Voiceless, the Cube of Truth drew about 1,000 animal rights activists from around the world. Among them were some of the movement’s most influential voices, including globally recognized educator Earthling Ed, Klaus Mitchell of Plant Based News, Renee King-Sonnen of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary and Donny Moss of TheirTurn.
Hundreds of activists assembled in silence, forming a massive human cube just blocks from San Francisco’s busiest thoroughfares, confronting the public with unfiltered footage of animal exploitation — footage rarely seen, yet impossible to forget. Along with the massive main cube, there were a dozen other smaller cubes. The overall effect was a San Francisco takeover, complete with an "End Speciesism" banner draped over the top of Macy's.
UnchainedTV tracked the Cube live from beginning to end, starting with early organizing efforts led by Anonymous for the Voiceless co-founder Paul Bashir and his team. Viewers watched in real time as the Cube took shape, screens were powered on, and activists slipped on the iconic Anonymous masks. The Cube team stood silent and statuesque, holding signs and devices displaying graphic footage from factory farms, slaughterhouses, and laboratories — a striking, unmoving wall of truth that stopped passersby in their tracks.
Working alongside them was the outreach team, engaging members of the public in direct, often challenging conversations. While the Cube team remained silent, outreach volunteers asked questions, offered context, and guided viewers through what they were witnessing, shifting responsibility and agency back to the individual.
There were dramatic moments along the way. In one unforgettable scene, UnchainedTV reporter Jane Velez-Mitchell briefly lost sight of the Cube after it relocated several blocks away — only to race through the streets of San Francisco, camera rolling, determined to find it and keep the live coverage going. That urgency mirrored the movement itself: relentless, driven, and unwilling to look away.
Cubes of Truth now take place in cities across the globe, organized by hundreds of Anonymous for the Voiceless chapters. But this San Francisco Cube stands as a milestone — a turning point captured live, unfiltered, and in full by UnchainedTV. What you’re about to watch is more than coverage. It’s a record of a movement coming into its power.
