Is this prosecution or persecution? YOU DECIDE! The prosecution has rested in the groundbreaking animal rights trial of the leader of the “Open Rescue” movement. Now, it’s the defense turn. Defendant Wayne Hsiung, an attorney and a former constitutional law professor, is defending himself in the Sonoma County, California trial. He faces prison if convicted of trespass and conspiracy to trespass in the Open Rescue of dozens of suffering hens and ducks from 2 massive animal factories in this rural California county. The judge has ruled NO photos or videos showing suffering animals can be shown to the jury. But, that’s precisely why they rescued those animals. Our team coverage includes Direct Action Everywhere’s Carla Cabral at the courthouse, defense attorney and former Manhattan Assistant DA Nathan Semmel, Animal Alliance Network’s Ellen Dent, UnchainedTV hosts Jane Velez-Mitchell, Michelle Celestino and Lindsey Baker plus TheirTurn’s Donny Moss who took part in one of the mass actions swarmed by dozens of police.
