Breaking News: PETA says it has just uncovered a serious lapse by the U.S. government when it comes to its handling of 43 monkeys who escaped from a South Carolina research facility in November of 2024. All have now been recaptured but monkey escapes are just one of the many hazards of housing primates in residential areas.
That’s one reason a pitched battle continues in a small Georgia town where residents have vowed to stop a wildly unpopular plan to house a massive monkey facility. More than 30-thousand monkeys, destined for laboratory experimentation, would be housed there and residents are up in arms. PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is on the frontlines helping residents in their quest to stop the controversial facility. Of course, in the 21st Century, there is no reason to experiment on monkeys or any other animals. So, could the massive cost-cutting currently proposed for the National Institutes of Health, the largest funder of animal experimentation, signal a shift away from torturing monkeys, dogs, cats, rabbits and mice in outdated experiments? Let’s find out with our expert PETA panel. PETA’s Amy Meyer and Dr Lisa Jones-Engel join UnchainedTV’s Jane Velez-Mitchell. to help end monkey experimentation, visit https://www.peta.org/ and sign up to receive alerts.
