Direct Action Everywhere Co-Founder Wayne Hsiung is being released from jail in Sonoma County, California. Hsiung was sentenced to 90 days in jail after being convicted of 3 trespass related charges for leading Open Rescues of sick and suffering chickens and ducks from animal factories in that county about 50 miles north of San Francisco. An attorney who represented himself, Hsiung has been hit with some onerous conditions of his 2 years probation like being unable to have contact with his closest friends, characterized as “co-conspirators.” Hsiung is appealing his conviction and hopes a higher court will overturn it and establish case law that includes the Right to Rescue animals in distress in massive animal factories. Carla Cabral is LIVE at the Courthouse with the very latest as UnchainedTV’s Jane Velez-Mitchell hosts with an expert panel.
